i was wondering the significance of this quote in Violets "our blackbird frets and strops his beak indifferent to Scarlatti song"

I don't see there been any real significance

I'd focus on the imagery of the senses (the colour of the sky, the smell of violets, memory of home life, etc) rather than something as obscure as that.
