What does everyone find is the best way to write under exam conditions and finish without feeling like their hand is about to fall off? Apart from the obvious, like flexing fingers etc.

I don't think there is a particular way, but my english teacher once said if you put the palm of your hand flat onto the table whenever it gets tired, it feels better again. I haven't actually ever remembered to try it though...

im too busy worrying about the task then to worry about my hand - just try to block out the pain or think to yourself - just 10 more mins keep writing for just 10 more mins

I think if you hold your pen in a different position it hurts less as well. I was kind of esxperimenting in my english exam the other day, and sometimes the angle with which you hold your pen afftects how much it hurts and strains your hands...if that makes any sense at all :D

hold you pen lightly, don't grip it too tight. to do this you need to have a pen that flows well and easily.

My pens are usually cheap and crap so I don't have the liberty of gripping lightly.

I usually crack my knuckles/fingers at a few points during the exam, drink water or stretch. It breaks up the exam and helps me to rest my hand. It does hurt though, even when I make notes here at home it hurts (I much prefer typing!) so I really don't have a good solution...

I guess intermitant rests are the only real solution besides getting a decent pen!

i was the same...i guess all i did was stop every so often and flex my fingers and stuff; whenever i was reading a question or thinking or whatever, so it didnt take time out from my writing, coz it wasnt as if id stop writing to do it.

i like the cheap kilometric blue ones...they are smooth and easy to hold without those fancy shmancy grip things...

Yeah you need a good pen. Those scratchy ones are awful. You also need to practise writing everyday, but I never get around to doing it. Apparantly if you write for like 5 - 10 minutes everyday, not just normal writing, but writing like you would in an exam situation, it helps.

Why do you write under exam conditions everyday including school?? I mean writing really fast within a time limit. Your writing becomes neater, you write faster and your hand hurts less.

im just like thay for some reason...i write fast all the time whether i have to or not ...gets me into the habit for when exam time rolls around...i also write at least three to four short answer exam answers everyday and maybe an essay about once a week so yeah, i like to write fast...writing slowly actually annoys me...it annoys me even more to see other people write slowly when i dictate to them!!
