ok this term they got some new shit set up where insted of detention you have to do school community service lol......well today i was like 10 minutes late and i got put onto the community service list.....then at recess me and all these other peopl had to spend like 20 minutes moving mulch and bs like that wtf is going on is this slave labour shit legal in the school system?

Public schools have rules against that type of thing. Private schools, however, create their own rules.

In the end, its not a matter of law. There's a major difference between laws and rules. Whilst rules have to be legal, which this community service thing is, they don't have to be fun (e.g. Lame-o uniforms, Christian services)

We are required to do 10 hours community service by the end of the year, and make 'logs' of it in this booklet we were given. Screw that, the only people that are doing it are the ones that are going for scholarships/medicine type things.

I wish mine didn't, on matters like this anyway. I think it's only because my town has one of the largest percent of old people in the state, so the school may feel obliged to make us <i>help</i> the elderly. Though, I know I would be no hope at all
