Hey guys,

My school is ranked around 15 every year, my current ranks (our school has only done practical or hand in tasks) are:

AVD ENG: 67/170
Chem: 43/98
Bio: 26/45
Phys: 64/90
MX1: 52/118
MX2: 59/60

My maths teacher has advised me to "consider" dropping to 3U, although I have to complete and grasp 80% of the entire 2U course in a month due to trials. My atar aim is 95 although atm I'm kind of doubting myself. My average for MX2 is around 48% and even though I can do standard text book questions I often struggle with exam style questions and panic during assessments, MX2 is really starting to drag down my motivation because I'm uncertain if I'm just beating a dead horse and dragging my other subjects down due to time management. The struggle...

If I do drop down to 3U, I think I'll be able to handle 2U ok, but not sure if I can get 90+ for trials though lol. I'm conflicted right now because I'm not sure if it's better to be in the 50s for MX2 or (theoretically) get 80/90s for 2U and mx1. Atar estimates are also welcome. Any advice and reasoning would be lovely. Thank you!!

80/90s for 2u and mx1 is better than a 50 in 4u
Oh really, I'm sorry about that haha, I was shoving the numbers into the atar calculator and they came up around the same range which made me a tad confused. What would be around the equivalent for high band 5/low band 6 in 2U/MX1 for 4U then? Sorry I know nothing about scaling :( Thanks anyway!

I think a key consideration is you are not doing as well in the subject as you want to and it is very time consuming-decreasing your chance to be able to improve in your ranks for other subjects-and on that basis of time consumption-I would suggest you drop it.
