Construct an essay plan and memorise key points with their quotes. This allows your essay to flow better when you are needed to adapt it to a specific question while also allowing you to write on the spot rather than getting stuck on a few sentences you may have forgotten.

The most important thing is to answer the question. This does not mean just writing a response. Your response needs to be tailored to the specific question.

Memorising essays can be useful if and only if you adapt it to the question thoroughly. However, there is always the risk of your memorised essay being unadaptable to the question/difficult to adapt.

I would suggest you memorise your main points, quotes - the quote, and the effect, as well as have several thesis statements ready.

Good luck!
