Hey, Im writing an essay on the statement:

'Composers use a narrative to shape our perceptions of others and their worlds'

I have to use "the drovers wife" and "In a Dry season" as references. I get the concept of the statement but not how Lawson uses tecniques to convey this. Can someone please explain....

Thanks :)

I dont know if this will help much.
For my mid course exams we had to write an essay with the statement:
"How important are the roles of storytellers in shaping your understanding of other people and their worlds?"
I didnt use 'In a dry season' as a text but i did use the 'drovers wife'. i felt like i didnt really answer the question but i got 75% without using any quotes or anything.
I just said that he used descriptive language to try to involve the reader in the story, thus opening the door for us to enter his world. I also wrote about themes, authorial intrusion and how Lawson tries to let the story shape from descriptions of characters rather than try to shape the characters to the plot.
dunno if this will help any, but hey something is better than nothing.
good luck
