i need a new hard drive, whats the best brand to get for price, performance and if its quiet or noisy, i need roughly 160 + gigs, ive been looking at seagate, particulary cus of the 5 yr warranty

nah computer is about 5 years old, so i think ill have to use IDE

Seagtae and Western Digital are probably the best HDD to go far, regardless of SATA or PATA

Ive been using a seagate for ages, never had a problem; but western digitals are said to be really good as well.

Both retail at similar prices, so yeah, any would be a good choice.

one of my HDDs is SATA by Seagtae...and it's darn noisy....:D

seagate is best for SATA, and Segate hardrives have fluid bearings, which means they are totally silent.

I think the newest western digital have fluid bearings.

how many gb are you getting?? make sure your motherboard supports them... cuz many motherboards dont support anything above 120gb..
