No Need To Use A Wide Variety Of Texts!! (1 Viewer)

Just got off the HSC advice line with a lady who marked the English HSC paper last year. I was asking her if using 2 visual texts (1 from stimulus, 1 related) would mean I haven't used a wide variety of texts - she basically said it didn't matter. She said you will not be marked down for not using a wide variety. I told her that in my trials, i was marked down for using Skryznecki poems and Journey to the Interior, because by using 2 poems I wasn't using a wide variety, she said that won't happen in the HSC. She said it didn't happen last year, so I don't see how it will happen this year.

Dunno, but i hope so because i'm using Road Not taken and Imagined Corners poems, which is 3 poems.

I'm using road not taken and Skrzynecki. I also rang the adive line and said it was okay.

I really think that would depend on what your thesis statement, essay question and your whole argument about journeys is. Different forms are more effective then others at portraying aspects of the journey and connecting with contemporary audience which can affect our view, image and connection of the traveler’s journey. I wasn’t sure but I wouldn’t think they would mark you down; they are trying in some cases to look for as many marks as they can for you.

If that is what a past HSC marker said then I would be incline that to listen and believe that they are right. After all us 06ers, like myself who have an opinion on this have only had it formed from the trials, previous exams and what my schools teachers have said. Either way I am set as I do have a wide variety of texts and mediums and have been using them since we started journeys and I am not about to change at the eleventh hour. Good luck!
