The O.K pharaohs continously raided Lybia and Nubia and what not .. so what did they achieve from this ?? Did they every conscript nubians/libyans into thier military ?? I know they needed Nubia for mining gold .. but i dont see thier achievment in raiding Libya or fighting the Asiatics
I just need some quick clarifications .. In my trials one of the Q's asked to comment on Foreign Contact of the O.K
That's an interesting question. I'll come back with more detail if you want, but I think the campaigns achieved a few things.
Remember though that the Egyptian army wasn't fully formed at this time.
I'm sure a big objective would have been resources- precious metals and stones, food and wine, and slaves would have been the main things taken. I'm not sure about conscripting slaves in the military, but there's a lot of evidence to show that foreign slaves were used in the OK (unlike the later periods where slavery is almost non existent).
The idea of fighting for
ma'at would have also been existent then. If you look at the 'Narmer Palette' and others, you'll see that the 'king smiting the bad people' idea has already formed. I doubt that they ever fought just for that reason, though, and I think it bears down to getting resources.
