depends.

if youre "smart", and by that i mean you were getting good grades in the earlier years, then a 60 UAI should be very easily attained with very little study.

as long as youre not in the bottom 5th of all your class (depending on your school) a 60 should always be pretty easy to get.

almost anyone can get 60 if they try ... since the bottom 30 uai points (or so) are already "taken" by the people that do not continue onto year 12 - so even if u were ranked last in the hsc u would get a uai of 30ish+.
Then with some extra effort u can easily rise to 60ish.

60 UAI it is top 40% of YOUR YEAR 10 cohort.
so practically top 40% of the state.

If you were the top 40th percentile of people that sat the HSC tho -- u'd get a uai of about 70-75.

michaeln36, I apologise, you are indeed correct:

"we can calculate by interpolation that students who are at the 91.0th percentile of the UAI-eligible percentile are at the 94.38th percentile of the 2003 SC cohort. This means that students with an aggregate of 400.0 have
performed well enough in the HSC to be at the 94.38th percentile of their SC cohort. Their percentile is rounded, giving a UAI of 94.40."
