with regards to this quote how would you guys interpret it:
"Our identity has already been chosen for us; but it's up to us to accept it - or fight and change it."

just wanted to know how everyone else would interpret this -
its the stimulus for my multimodal - prescribed text is 1984 and I am yet to chose a related text. any suggestions on related texts which would relate with 1984 and stimulus would also be appreciated

From quite a basic viewpoint, the first part (our identity has already been chosen for us), this could refer to our gender or our background in which we have been brought up in. Basically, when you are first born, you cannot control your life or anything at that stage. However, as you grow and mature, you can choose where your life goes (including job, identity, personality, etc).
