For an english assignment I have to compose a soliloquy that conveys a particular character's perspective on power in the text, and including language technqiues. I chose to do Emilia after witnessing Othello’s anger with Desdemona when she cannot produce the handkerchief he had given her. She is there at the scene, yet doesnt speak up.
1. Tush! O the dire anger on the Moor’s face,
2. O Desdemona, I have not but guilt!
3. Twas I who seized thy handkerchief
4. Never wouldst thou thinks of my betrayal
5. Behold my tongue, let my voice withdraw, and
6. Cease my speech, else for I pray naught but
7. The knowledge be known to my friend Desdemona.
8. Amid the trust, truth and treachery;
9. Conflicting decisions surround and question me
10. Born a female, barriers prevent say
11. I am a dove, trapped in a constraint cage
12. And doth wings free this hold? I think it doth.
13. Beneath my husband’s spite, actions I doubt
14. Akin to a chameleon’s facade
15. True motives are hidden, never exposed
16. But alack, for I to reveal my actions
17. I must stand the sharp, slow pain of remorse
18. Anon, I will speak whence the time is true
19. Let this be a deed, tucked deep within my sleeve
20. O, dilemma, dilemma, dilemma!
1. Tush! O the dire anger on the Moor’s face,

3. Twas I who seized thy handkerchief
