First off, I can't spell paralellogram.

How the heck do you prove the "paralellogram" theorm (not using any other paralellogram theorms) and also prove the "diagonals of paralellogrram theorm.

I just can't seem to work these out.

Don't worry about the proof so much you will never have to prove it in a test....

EDIT: it is more important to be able to see the geometrical properties

If you did have to prove it, would it be safe to assume that the opposite sides are equal?

If so, it is quite easy because all you have to do is split it into 2 triangles like so....

Then use congruent triangles (SSS) to show that the opposite angles are equal

Hope this helps!

edit: LottoX beat me to it, i really should use refresh more often :) But I think LottoX the point of the question is not to use corresponding angles because it could be construed as a "parallelogram theorem".....oh well

just remember david that most basic geometric proofs involve congruent/similar triangles somewhere

Thanks for the help. I get the basic concept now. Oh, and it will be in the test.

yeah sometimes my teacher like to chuck in 1 or 2 provings too.
to see if we actually understand the proof or are we just remember formulas :/
so i try to learn the proves too.

:)
