Hey there. Well I've heard from my teacher that in the exams/HSC, you MUST derive all parametric equations and simply cnat remember them. However she did say that this is with the exception of the Chord of contact from an exterior point equation.

Is this true at all schools/ in the HSC???

Or do we still have to derive the Chord of contact equasion aswell?

yeah this is exactly what i was taught, often they ask u to derive the equation of the tangent/normal or else they provide it.

We were not taught to memorise anything except the parametric equations of a parabola. The rest can be derived quite easily...

yeah i was taught to memorize it, although you could easily derive it. I'd suggest u learn both, deriving it in an exam only if they ask, otherwise just state it.
