ok people I have had my p's for ages....

I passed the test easy ...all their parking skills I can do easy....

but now when I do like shop parking or parking in small parking spots I totally suck for some reason!!!!

My car is 4WS which sucks aswell I learnt to drive on a 2WS...

Is ther liek a 1 day course you can take that helps you to park better?

ahaha i had the same problem.
the rta tests are not useful as well since the parking situations presented in the tests are extremely unrealistic. The reverse parking is shit coz it doesnt take into account that u may what to park in between two cars..
there are also other parking problems such as carparks, 90 degree parks and 45 degree ones as well....

i dont think there are parking courses but u can always go back to places like L-Trent or whateva and ask for them to teach u specifically about parking...a lot of people do that apparently..

Yeh you can always go back and do a few driving lessons and ask them to concentrate on parking, or you could grab some wheelie bins and do some practice out on the street in front of your house or something. And if anything the AWS should make it easier, not harder.

I've always been pretty hero when it comes to parking, and have even taught a few people how to do so. Probably the best advice I can give is to learn the dimensions of your car. Drive up to a wheelie bin and edge forward until you nudge it. Do this two or three times, then try and get as close to the bin as possible without hitting it. When you can stop within 30mm of it without hitting it, you've learnt the front overhang of your car! Do the same with reversing and you'll know the rearward overhang of your car. This helps when you get too close to a parked car, you'll know when to stop. To learn the width of your car, drive up and try and line up your front wheels with the wheelie bin as close as possible. When within 30mm, you're done!

seriously when I drive one of my parents cars its soo different in 2ws...like the turning circle is all sus on my car 4ws is soo weird for parking...

I can do reverse parks very well, but you look like a tripper doing reverse parks at shopping centers and it pisses people off lol...oh well I might try this next time hahaha

also big ass cars suck for parking my car is pretty big, I have driven excels and stuff done parking in them and its totally cool...

Parking is just about being dimensionally aware of your vehicle. I can easily drive (both forewards and backwards) my car so close to things that the bumper is 2mm away. Dimensional awareness comes simply from practice and familiarity.

If you can park fine backwards then just do that - its safer anyway.

all about practice...ive parked so many times in mac uni's retarded car parks that i've improved a lot (at our uni the parking spaces are very small and u want to park in sucha perfect way so as to ensure other idiots dont hit your doors when they open theirs)...shopping centres are the easiest place to park once you've done enough parking...

i think im realy good at parking. I can do the parallel reverse park perfectly everytime, angle parking, no probs. Theo nly thing i have, my car is MASSIVE. really wide. i have trouble parking in nose first. I can't do it. I reverse into every single parkign spot i go in. And i never have to correct the position.

I dont really have any tips... i dont een know how i got the knack of parking. I just... parked well since my Ls.

I reckon if the RTA put shopping centre car parking in the Ps test the fail rate would increase dramatically.
The RTA carpark at Bankstown has these 45 degree reverse park spots.

parking spaces in shopping centres are huge..

you should see how lucky you people are.. i've been parking overseas and to get into the spaces you have to fold up your side mirrors
