Well it certainly has an "old world" charm... and I spose you could compare it to old sydney town... it's like the real deal version of what Old Sydney Town seeks to replicate.

The Female Orphan School, on campus, for example, was constructed only 25 years after the First Fleet arrived in Australia and the foundation stone of the Female Orphan School was laid by Governor Macquarie on 24th September 1813. It was the first purpose-built charitable institution in Australia, and is Australia’s oldest three-storey masonry building.

Parramatta was Australia’s first European style market town, developed to supply Sydney with fresh produce.

Furthermore, it is rumoured that the Vernon Building, also at Parramatta campus was the longest building of its era.

The campus has an interesting history. Another former use of the sites includes the Rydalmere Hospital for the Insane (makes it a bit spooky at night --> somewhere there's a thread about possible ghost sightings)

The heritage buildings have been painstakingly restored and refurbished by the university.

- info taken from UWS website and so forth.

There's still a couple of dilapidated buildings :p but generally it's nice.. the rooms are really big and open and i found gr8 to work in

That's right Natstar, there will be a massive development on the Western part of the campus.

The University is quite modern. The facilities are of a high standard and the older buildings give the campus a unique feel and contribute to its warmthness.

lol i wouldn't say it looks anywhere near lik old sydney town :p

it has fair few 'heritage' type older buildings, but the largest ones - library, auditorium are brand new

and most of the older buildings don't really look old... only way you can tell really is the lack of air conditioning in some and that some have places where fireplaces used to be... but i mean, it's not like we're going to uni in some 1920's shacks lol... its all been refurbished to be able to house uni students:)
