Hopefully they will explain this on the proper enrolment day (i.e. not tomorrow and tuesday)

They send you an invoice I think, and then you can choose how you want to go about paying it - I pay online, so I don't know the other options.

Edit: And at enrolment day you pick if you want to pay upfront or defer. It's better to provide your TFN anyways just in case the payment doens't make it through by the end date, you won't get expelled or whatnot.

im pretty sure you dont need a tfn. all they do is give you a form with how much it will be. everyone gets this, regardless of if they are paying up front or not. you can take the form to any branch of the national (there is a branch at uni) and pay it there. you can also pay at other places, but i forget these. if you dont pay it by the due date (usually a month or so after uni starts) it is automatically accumulated as hecs debt.

You'll need a TFN if you want to defer. If you're paying up front and you didn't supply your TFN and you didn't pay for some reason they'll withdraw your enrolment I think.

You technically have till march 31st to pay your hecs...or something like that. What they ask you to do in enrollment is indicate what your doin so they can collate the necessary paperwork

Yeah, its March 31st or a month after semester starts, because you can change your subjects around for the first month I think...how much you pay depends on the subjects you take, so until your subjects are finalised they can't calculate.

Oh, and the reason you want to give a TFN is so they can defer your payment if you don't pay, as already mentioned.

Spot on (re the invoice-sending & choosing on enrolment day). Upfront payments rock if you can afford them. Awesome discount.
