I believe the uai should be done by the hsc marks only, not the hsc and school marks, some ppl dont have the energy to put all they have in one year to keep there ranks and marks up, myself personally i was going good in every subject in year 11 then i just burnt out, burnt out to all beleive, teachers saw meeh as the best student around (from my subjects) but in year 12 they just gave up on me, then when the open days came i got my motivation back only for it to be too late..... :( still gonna try though....

No way!!
Its not fair to those who try hard all year round. They deserve the high marks they get as security in case they bomb out in the HSC exam.
If you want just the HSC exam to count towards your UAI, you could do subjects like IT where your supposed to cram like hell because its worth 100%

Nah. Don't repeat. If you really want to get into a course or UNI, just transfer instead. If you repeat, you'll be in a totally different atmosphere and you can't be guaranteed to succeed in it.
My principal said that only a very small handful actually do a lot better.

Why does it seem easier to get a high UAI if you do subjects like 4u maths, adv eng, phys, chem?
I heard of a guy who got band 5 for all his subjects and got a UAI of like 50 something. He did subjects like Hospitality, Gen Maths, Std Eng and stuff like that.
Isn't it already hard enough to get Band 5 for these subjects?

Hmm...chances are that most people don't do a ton of a lot better though so i'd advise anybody planning on repeating to give it their best shot the first time because the results won't be much more impressive.
