i heard that this uni had a really good performing arts unit. but when i went to this career search day , i didnt see anything about performance or any humanities subject. mainy just sciencey type ones.

so is there a course in performin arts? and if so, how is it? would you recommend it there?

nida is extremely difficult to get into especially as a school leaver. The uni does have a good reputation for performing arts through the arts and social faculty. I have friends who do theatre and they enjoy it. try www.arts.unsw.edu.au

hi! I've always wanted to do performing arts as well, so i've done a bit of research:) (but now i'm leaning towards media and communications:p)

Basically, if you like the theory component of performance, a good degree is Bachelor of Arts with a major in Performance Studies or theatre Studies.
At Sydney Uni, they have a major in Performance Studies. In UNSW, u can major in Film/Dance/ Theatre . My drama teacher said that there isn't much practical component in these degrees cos one of her student's done it. But there are heaps of theatre groups in UNSW, and SUDS in Sydney Uni and u'll eventually get to direct plays/act in plays via these clubs in uni~ If you're interested in the theory, Sydney Uni's arts degree for it is apparently a bit more challenging and complex. In UNSW, the 1st year's sort of boring (apparently) cos it's much simpler stuff.

Oh and apart from NIDA (if you're planning to audition), do consider VCA as well, it's in Melbourne and it's really good as well apparently (as hard as NIDA to get in and my careers adviser said it's better than NIDA).

Hope that helps!
