Does anybody here like his books?

Can anybody recommend other authors or books like him/his? Or just any good sci fi in general?

For those interested I recommend:
The Night's Dawn trilogy
Pandora's Star (book one)
Judas Unchained (book two)
The Dreaming Void (part of a trilogy currently being written)

Night's Dawn was written first but it a bit darker than the Commonwealth Saga books (Pandora's Star/Dreaming Void). They're all interesting and worth reading though.

God I hate Hamilton. Can't stand his overblown, oversexed, overepic writing.

Ugh there is so much better out there. Try Hyperion! Dune! Anything by Alastair Reynolds or Robert J Sawyer!

His oversexualisation of women is pretty blantant, yeah. But I like his "bloated" chapters. At least there's always something happening.

People keep recommending Dune so I guess I'll grab it. What have Reynolds and Sawyer written?

Dune is indeed fantastic but it can take some.. effort to read. I tried to read it about five times before I finally succeeded; it's that dense.

Reynolds is a UK author that wrote Revelation Space and its sequels, as well as some stand-alone novels. All are epic and huge in scope, and very very cool.

Sawyer is probably my favourite author, and is a multi-Hugo and Aurora award winner. Try Calculating God, Factoring Humanity, the Neanderthal Parallax (a trilogy - Hominids, Humans and Hybrids), the Quintaglio Ascension (another trilogy - Far-Seer, Fossil Hunter and Foreigner), Frameshift, Starplex, etc. His novels are heavy on characterisation without sacrificing plot and techological coolness.
