PHone Call before an interview (1 Viewer)

do yuo guys think if you submitted a resume to a job, and you get a phone call, its very important decider of wheather u get the job or not, even before the interview.

becuase i once got a phone call when i was sleeping and i when i was talking i was half asleep and was talking crap, and i never even got an interview.

What's the phone call for? Must admit my jobs aren't particularly high flying, but the only phone calls I've ever had were "come along for an interview"...

I think they are. I once did the same thing, answered the phone just after waking up. He said at the end of the call "I'm just calling to speak to people before shortlisting them for interviews". I never got a call back. He was an idiot though, and it was a stupid job (good location and pay though).

Today I had this 15 minute conversation with a woman about a telemarketing position. They want to call referees and everything. She tested me on my memory, computer ability, etc. All this for telemarketing. Well, it is Telstra.

Yeah, I've had a few of those, they call you up for a sort of mini phone interview to suss you out.

I got my current job after a mini phone interview and a group interview.

if some person who's number you dont recognise is ringinga after you've submitted a resume a couple days a go, dont answer unless your ready.

most of the time they leave messages. its much better, it works fine. you ring them back when you not what to say

yhe thats what basicly happened to this phone call. The chick said she will call me back to tell me the time of the interview and never did. then i called up and they sais people were chosen

well basically...tjhey might be checking you for your character. i mean someaone asleep at 10am = bad in their books or whatever the case was (perhaps an afternoon nap) i mean be prepared when you have applied for a (number?) of jobs.

youshould know what kinda questions to expect...its part of the "drill"

lol yeh i was sleeping in the arvo and got one of those phone calls.. but i ended up being asked to do a trial.
