It's called an avatar and your picture needs to be 100 x 100 pixels in size.

Once you have one you goto your user CP, options and goto the bottom where it says 'Change Avatar'. You can either place the URL of the picture (if you're hosting it) or load it from your computer. Then press save changes and tada, you have an avatar.

how do i get my stoopid pic to go by 100 x 100?

Try fixing it in paint. Open up the file and resize it until in the bottom right hand corner says 100 x 100 or less. Word of caution, the pictures don't look as good when they are made smaller. I prefer to make my own or steal others.

ooo, i used paint and its so much less fussy than all the other stuff....:)

Yeah, all do is use stretch and skew. Then I just adjust the pixels.

Its also more basic than photoshop, and a lot of people don't have photoshop.

adjust pixels? i just pulled the pic until the numbers became 100x100

But if you compress it to 100x100 it can become skewed, unless it is in a ratio of 1:1. Or if you put it below 100x100 then stretch it, it increases the size of the pixels, which can distort the image.

putting a smaller than 100x100 pic is worse than fixing up a larger pic...

hehe yeah, i knew SOMEONE had to notice but i couldnt be bothered twiddiling around with it. knowing me, ill make it worse :D
