I'm not a country girl,
That's what I used to say,
But now I’m not too sure!
The things I used to love to hate,
Are becoming things I’d have to say, I Love!
The whispers from the city calling my name,
Are louder than before,
But they sing a different tune.
No longer do they cry "look at what I have to offer",
but "look at what you're leaving behind!"

It's the way my boots look upon my feet,
The uncountable number of utes that lap the main,
Gettin better to look at time and time again
Walking down the back to tie up my dog
and watching the sun go down.
It's the constant prayers for rain,
To soak the hills made of dust.
The leaves of the Autumn trees bordering the road,
And all the brown lawns that hardly ever need to be mowed!

It's the simple things that mean the most,
Like being able to see the stars at night,
And leave your doors unlocked!
It's knowing all the people in town,
And hangin' down the street,
Cos there's nothing better to do!
It's the strength of the spirit of the country people,
Who'll pull through the tough times,
Saying "She'll be right, mate" and "No worries",
No matter how bad it gets.
I'll forever miss the country songs,
Played over and over on the Year 12 CD player!

You know how it goes:
Ya never know what ya got till it's gone.
Well, it's true, and I haven't even left yet!
Life is throwing me a challenge,
A fork in the road, and new direction to walk,
But I'll take it in my stride,
With my friends and my God by my side!
I know that all my favourite things
Will be here when I come home.
Thats if i don't take them with me!
Hey that's me a country girl so let me be me!!
And every day I’m gone,
I'll appreciate them more.
And realise -
I'll always be a country girl at heart!!
