Hrm, I don't quite get the process for this question, the answer is 0.77.

a)The polynomial equation 4x^3 - x^2 + x - 2 = 0 has a root near x = 0.6
Using 2 applications of newton's method, find the approximation root, correct to 3 decimal places.

EDIT - GOT THIS, I FUCKING WROTE 4x^3 - x^2 + x + 2 = 0 INSTEAD OF - ARGHHHH.

b) I just need an idea of how to find the roots of cubedroot of 5. I wasn't listening in class during this lesson, was already in holiday mode :<

stil need help, teacher wrote it on the board but i forgot :D

Thanks in advance.

use newtons method.

create an equation where x = cube root 5, is a root.

ie: x^3 - 5 = 0

and then apply netwons method.
