i am told to design an experiment in physics on the projectile motion. it sounds easy but it worth 20% of my hsc, and i was also asked to:

1. gather info on range, max h. etc.
2. determine mathematical relatioship [btw how do u do that?!]
3. analyse of the results

...
i juz would like to know wat i need to look out for? becoz it seems an easy experiment yet it worth so much, i feel like i am gonna b missing out somethin that they r lookin for.

thanks

eg.

i know wat to do for this assessment [we basically have to design an experiemtn, get all the results then anaylse] but it worth a whooping 20%

so i am feeling as if i didn't do someting that they are gonna b looking for

Well? what is it?
Usually in experiments, you have to include: aim, method, diagram, reliability, validity, conclusion, results whatever

Also include your research or background info. to the experiment as well as results, graqphs, calculations or whatever.
id just include what they ask for.

It would be better to ask your teacher. We do not know what's required. We can only guess from the information that you have given us, meaning that we know no more than you do.

I might be able to help you with doing the mathematical relationship, ie v=u+at, v2=u2+2as and s=ut+1/2(at2)? Also when you analyse the results, consider air resistance, because that is the major factor that will affect the accuracy of the experiment.

one day i'd like to say i know those equations off by heart...

lol...

speaking of prac assessments we got ours... its next friday...
just doing acceleration due to gravity (g)...
im just doing a pendulum thingy :D
anyone else?

Ignore wind resistance. Just keep ignore that and any external forces (if there's none).
Those formulas given in exam formula sheets (eg u^2=v^2+2as) have all these confusing subscripts of u and y.

Lol, knowing the equations is the easy part... the hard bit is applying them in all soughts of problems, particularly projectile motion, which is not hard once you get the hang of it.
We're also doing a prac assessment on g, probably the pendulum one because our teacher made it obvious it was that one xD, unfortunately we were told there would be extra things to do in the prac, and not a complete re-run of the prac we did during a double at the start of term.

I dont think doin the actual experiment if hard, juz all the details have to consider (coz our teacher is TIGHT marker!... bein a chem teacher, he will mark u off if u didn't write "change another pipette or clean it" b4 u wrote "measure another 10ml of ___ with pipette".

anywayz. and anaylsis the results, it is gonna b hard presenting all the drawings of projectile motion.

mite be doin it by sortin into:
initiall V's effect (whereas everythin else constant).. mass's effect, angle..etc.etc

thanks for every1's advice!

make it long, try to be unique in presentation, maybe include photos of you doing the test, background information, initial ideas and beliefs, use a variety of resources and indirectly show ur teacher that u are working hard, e.g/ everyday ask questions relating to the topic, stay behind after school, go to the library when the teacher is there. The teacher will think that u worked hard and will give ya high marks....

Did it once for my yr 11 prac exam, did it again for yr 12..(WTF?) It is not that hard. I reckon that the projectile motion is hard than pendulum
same

i completly messed up that prac exam too :D

Hey guys, what are the rest of you doing for your physics prac?

We're just firing marbles using rubber bands like canonballs being shot out.

In our last prac, we examined our change in weight on a lift, by standing on a set of scales in our school lift. :D
