Yeah i know its an easy one but i just want to make sure i'am doing it correctly.

We must determine the value of an unkown mass using the equipment supplied (unknown mass attached to string, mass carrier, 50 gram masses, glass tube, sticky tape, stopwatch and graph paper). I have to present it in a prac report.

Any help, advice or links?

Here is a picture of the practical that i did last year:

View attachment 14261

1. The apparatus was set up
2. The pen casing was held vertically to swing the rubber around in a large horizontal circle
3. 50g mass was used
4. The pen casing was held upright and used to swing the rubber stopped at a constant speed and at a constant level
5. Ten full revolutions were timed and the period and the orbital velocity were calculated.
6. The radius was then adjusted by using trial and error to swing the rubber stopper in increments of 0.1m
7. For the 2nd part of the experiment the masses were varied along with the radius
