I just saw the movie version a few nights ago, also saw the BBC (Colin Firth) version last year and totally fell in love with it. Haven't read the book yet, but hopefully will buy it soon!
I had some heartstrings tugged by the beautiful story, but I didn't find myself as "addicted" to it as I found myself to the BBC version. I'm aware it's much harder to cramp the story in a shorter amount of time (was anyone else as confused by sudden jumps in time/plot? Like when Elizabeth sleeps one night, then you see this orange light and think "what the hell?" then you see her on top of a cliff), but if I wasn't already aware of the storyline I think I would have been extremely confused.
One part of the film (as opposed to mini-series) was that it was clear that Jane was the eldest sister in terms of looks. Her character didn't emanate that sense of reserved sweetness that's in the BBC version though
and what was with all that laughing when Bingley proposed?!?!
The 'realness' of the Mrs Bennett also felt a bit weird. It was more realistic, but I missed Alison Steadman's hysterics
They're iconic!
