Hi guys, I'd love to get into tv, primarily behind the scenes work, such as programming etc. Any ideas of what I should be doing at uni etc.

As if Tim Worner learnt how to destroy quality shows by going to uni...

make calls, beg and thats the way to get in. To be a programmer you need to have a very thurough knowlege of demographic flow, show content and what appeals to advertisers and you can only learn those sorts of things while working on the job.

thanks routemarker! I think I have a general understanding of demo flow and program appeal. I always follow up on the latest ratings and also subscribe to the oztam newsletter.

If you want to do a uni course, study a degree in media arts and production or something similar.... you learn all the technical stuff that way. I think at CSU Wagga there is actually a degree in TV production.

Yes i've heard CSU is generally very good place to learn aspects of production but it isnt mandatory. Youll still have to stick your foot in the industry some way but it would be an advantage to have such qualifications. Then again spend 3 yrs in a production environment and its likely you will be more qualified for more jobs than a new graduate.
