what is it with prostitutes and strippers selling their life stories and turning them into books?

Ive seen about four different ones.
And I will admit, I would like to read them.

I think people find their stories interesting due to the fact that the general public don't associate themselves with these types of people and its hard to imagine yourself in their shoes. It's difficult to understand why women place themselves in these situations and thus these stories give us some sort of insight.

theres a book writting by a prostitute - My Horizontal Life by Chelsea Handler. and i think the cover picture is of legs/arse in fishnet stockings.
theres another book by a stripper and the cover is an arse in fishnet stockings and a pink feather boa, but i forget what its called.

and i have seen a few others.

Im currently reading My Horizontal Life and it is fucking hilarious.
the writer isnt even a prostitute, shes just telling her life, her one night stands, her drunken sex life etc, but it is so, so funny.
