Woot, I got into Arts-Psych/Law! :D

Anyhow, the stupid timetable with all its acroynms and numbers are confusing the hell out of me. Basically, the amount of credit points required (as listed in the handbook) for the first year only total 13 pts. So to remain a full-time student I have to pick other electives right? WHAT ELECTIVES? Is it from any department or Arts only? However, the 2nd year looks full enough with 24 pts, so would I end up dropping the first year electives? Seems kinda pointless then...

Oh and are there lockers in MQ? Gah, I'm a lazy bum and I don't particularly want to drag fifty billion kilograms of textbooks around (slight exaggeration), so I'm wondering if I could rent a locker. Or if I need one at all. o_O

u can do ur electives from any dept as long as there are no prerequistes to fulfil. but just make sure that @ the end of ur course u have done the minimum amount of elective credits coz just because u have a lot in 2nd year doesnt necessarily mean that u can afford to not take any electives then. ie. u may have 24 core credits but u may have to do 30 in 2nd year....

as for lockers, no idea... leave them in ur car?

I don't think you'll need a locker. Personally, I didn't bring any of my textbooks, and had a relatively light bag from what I was use to at High School.

As for Electives, find your Recommended Program and just do Electives when you have room, ie. when you have say 9 CPs or less.

Yeah the first year psych text book would be a bitch to carry to uni (I remember when I bought mine).

But yeah with law you'll hafta carry around your casebook from second semester. The lovely torts one...and it's pretty chunky. But probably not worth a locker. There are lockers available though. You should see someone from SAM about that.

As for electives, just look at what first year units u meet the pre-requisties for. A lot of them will have NO pre-reqs. Especially with the psych/law degree...no electives in 2nd year, only psych options in 3rd year. So this is the chance to get a broad taste of subjects.

You'll have 1 elective in the first semester (to do along with psych, stats and law113) and 2 in the second (to do along with psych and law103). That'll be a normal ful time load...but I think you could get away with doing 1 less elective...check with an advisor.

Also consider that a number of people end up not liking psych enough to stay with it so u should do a variety of arts subjects that could be possible majors (history, or anthropology, i dunno...whatever u like)...just as a backup.

you can also ask the dept. what they suggest for electives. when you have the whole uni open to you it can be diffiult to know what you want to do. also look at what you may want to do as electives in 200 and 300 level, and see if they have prerequisites
