Directed at Macquarie law students only please:

Apart from not being as prestigious as Sydney and New South Wales, is Macquarie law a good choice?

Please do not go on about prestige as I have heard this all before. My question is more framed at the positives of the Macquarie law degree.

Thanks.

Welcome to BoS!

There have been many threads on this topic, but most do not seem to contain that many positive opinions. However, there are positive aspects of Macquarie Law; people/students are friendly, some very helpful and knowledgeable lecturers/tutors, manageable assessment structures and specialisation in environmental law.

The campus is lovely too. There's also an active law student society on campus with lots of events etc.

For all the shortcomings of the law faculty, the student body is one of the most active on campus if not australia, so you won't be selling yourself short on that end, just means you gotta get involved, which isn't a bad thing

There is a big pond at Macquarie so if it ever gets too hot in the summer you can go for a swim.

My friend's brother does Law at Macquarie and he says its pretty good

Um... unless you had just stumbled drunk out of the uni bar, why would you want to swim in that "pond" - technically, it's an artificial lake...

There is a lot of involvement with competitions, social events and careers events as well. There are also various placements, committees and peer assisted learning etc. You can see their website here: http://www.muls.org/

enough about the lake lol
We can never talk about that lake enough, it's featured so much in promotional material that we have all been led to believe that there is a massive lake on campus.

Always on-topic guys ;)
Only way to cheer up this thread, the topic of Macquarie law always comes up and seems to always be filled with grouchy students with their doom and gloom forecasts... what better than a lake to cheer us up? Did you know there are ducks there too!
