The question that we have 2 write about in class (as a report) is
Discuss the role of quarantine in the preventing they spread of disease of plants and animals into Australia across regions of Australia and evaluate their effectivness
Yeah, lovely, ugly question... is there any way of doin this effectivly? other than saying that we are so isolated that we dont have diseases like other countries do, airport quarantine etc. What can i include?

discuss the role of quarantine: talk about how quarantine measures prevent the spread of disease from entering australia. what does the AQIS do? e.g., they don't stand at the border and slap sick people away with a stick. what is an example of quarantine successfuly preventing the spread of disease into australia? e.g., BSE.

note that it also mentions 'across regions of Australia'. the obvious example for this one is the fruit fly. what is done to prevent the spread of fruit fly? how effective has this been?
