eg by correspondance/ TAFE/ private tutor etc

1) Do you receive special consideration in a advantageous or a disadvantageous way?

2) Rank is just as important as the subjects you do at school?

1) No you do not. Well not that I know of at the moment

2) Students studying with an outside tutor should note that the tutor must follow the Boards syllabus and provide assessment marks in accordance with syllabus guidelines. These assessment marks will only be used in the case of an Illness/ Misadventure appeal.

1) No.

2) If you're studying by correspondence, or are studying at TAFE or at a community centre of some kind, then you'll be ranked against all the students who are studying that same subject with that same organisation (i.e. it is deemed to be a school). If you are being privately tutored, you will have a class of only one student, and so your moderated assessment mark will be set equal to your exam mark.

Thanks, no wonder why people who get private tutored for all their subjects tend to get a relatively high UAI.

umm..... i don't think that is the reason.
The system is fair.

If they stuff up their exam, they will get an equally low assessment mark.

Tutoring is sydney is so damn expensive.
I did a few times with some friends to see if it would help my english mark.
It was $45 each for 5 ppl (2hours)

That is $112 per hour!!!!

Say there are different tutors.

2 + 2 + 2 + 2 +2 = 10 units

= $150 per hour for all subjects

Multiply by approximately 230 days

= $34 000

Bleh, not that much :D

i guess the reason why people that get privately tutored do well is coz of the one-on-one attention..like, think about your classes at school, ones that have say 10 people in get more personalised attention (and therefore, theoretically, better results) than one with say 30 people in (kinda why they try and make kindergartens and the first years of primary school classes so small, to give the kids the best possible chance to succeed early on-and to not exhaust the teacher ;))
