I have no idea where to start. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Find the coordinates of the four points A, B, C, D which divide the interval joining S(-2,3) and T(8,18) into five equal subintervals

One way.

A divides internally the interval ST in the ratio: 1: 4

.: the co-ords of A are: (1 x 8+ 4 x (-2), 1 x 18 + 4 x 3) = (0,30)

Similarly B does so in the ratio: 2:3

.: co-ords of B are: (2 x 8 + 3 x (-2), 2 x 18 + 3 x 3 ) = (10, 45)

and so on for C and D.
