Hi all,

Just like >< abit confused, here are my questions:

1. If I'm unable to make a certain lecture that I have chosen for my UNSW timetable [say, e.g. because if I had a sudden appointment on that day], am I allowed to join another lecture of that same course on short notice?

2. Also, the same question with tutorials + labs, can we go to another one if like, we missed the tut/lab on our timetable?

Cheers, and thank you sooo much in advance for the info.

1. You are allow to join any lectures you like.

2. Lab - no. Tut - yes.

Ah ok, whoa thanks for the clarity! >< I apologise for asking soo many questions, I just want to get the timetable, etc done before I leave... :bomb:

Also, just another question...:worried: the unsw states this when using the 'Search by catologue option in add classes' :

You may search for courses in multiple ways. First-year students will be prompted to search for courses by their program and plan. The "Program and Plan Search" is a simple method to search for core courses and common electives associated with your program and selected plan. This search will only display courses that you are eligible to enrol in. This data may not be available for all programs and plans.
So...does this mean that if I chose Japanese studies [Which wasn't shown in their 'Program & Plan Search'] could I still enrol into that course? Cos I entered japn studies in, and enrolled it...

Lectures usually have different speeds in which they go at (depending on lecturer), so you'd probably find that if you go to another lecture you'll be quite confused :) Just copy notes off friends from your original lecturer/print them off if they're available... sif you need to listen to some boring lecturer if you don't have to! :D

Yes, provided it counts towards your degree.

Just make sure that the subjects you decided not to do is not a pre-requiste for another subject next year. For a subject (say subject B) that has a pre-requiste (say subject A) you have to do subject A first, or else you cannot enrol into B next year. Beware.

Hahaha lol! Ok, soo, its probably better to somehow get them via printing or off friends. Whoa sure hope that the lecturer puts up his notes in case any of my uni friends have an urge to not lend me their notes!

@gman03: Yup, thanks for the warning :p I checked out the preqs and hence chose the beginning japn classes! Oh man, though another bad thing popped up in my semester 2 timetable. I'll try and include the screenshot of it, as soon as the unsw gets out of maintainence, though ..I found a clash with my psychology class [I cannot change this one, cos there's only one option]:

PSYC1011 - 1B:

Mon 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM (weekly*)KENS S2 Open
Mon 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM (weekly*)

Wed 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM (weekly*)
Thu 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM (weekly*)

Then for Chemistry Lecture options:

CHEM1041:

6656 - MON 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
WED 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
THU 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

or

6665 - MON 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
TUE 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
THU 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM

So...As you can see above, the bolded parts are all clashed, if I choose 6656 - CHEM 1041 the MON 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM coincides with that of psychology...and the same with the 6665 course.

Or...am i getting the wrong idea? Do I only attend say..one of the lectures in the lecture class [i.e. CHEM1041 - 6656 ]

MON 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
TUE 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
THU 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM

[i.e. just one of the above? Monday or Tuesday or Thursday? or..Do I attend all 3 of them]

>< My apologies if I sound kind of idiotic, though lol it was my parents asking that question all of a sudden.

Attend all three of them. Mix and match from different lecture options is not recommended.

Take it this way: say there are two Chem lecturer: John and Kim. Kim take care of 6656 and John take care of 6665. Kim and John go at different pace and might have different lecture notes. Mixing different lecture options confuse you.

Beside myUNSW will not allow you to enroll both subjects at the same time.

Suggestion: Pick another subjects. Seriously you would not miss out if you do one of the subject a year later.

Ouch ok...so since my psychology is clashing with both chem lectures, I should either drop psychology in my 2nd semester/ or drop 1041 chem in order to allow my lectures to run smoothly. Then like add them back in during my second year or so.

EDIT: Though I just had another look at the enrolment part, the psychology 1b course had the * next to it [* means Permitted Clash] So...does that mean I'm allowed to allow it to clash...but then I can't do a harry potter thingy and turn back time in order to take that course. :p

Rekksusu, i am sorry, I never had perimitted clash before so I could not give you more useful advice. However if myUNSW allows you to enrol that course (not just add, but enrol as well) then it should be safe to assume you can do both this year.

Good luck!

:p Naw you don't need to apologise, in fact you've helped me soo much, even better than the science student centre, whoa I wouldn't be surprised if you were one of the unsw coordinators/yellow shirt ppl.

Once again, thank you so much for all the help! haha Just right now I'm considering the locations of my classes, trying to find Bioscience G21

Ignore the little *

It doesn't mean anything. In fact I've a couple of them on my timetable this year but I have no clashes.

Though >< Unfortunately, my pscyhology course is clashing with my chem course in Semester 2:

PSYC1011 - 1B:

Mon 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM (weekly*)KENS S2 Open
Mon 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM (weekly*)

CHEM1041:

6656 - MON 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

or

6665 - MON 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Cheers and thanks for the reply!

P.S. Ok, I just tried enrolling, and an error: [Looks like gman was right...it doesn't seem to allow me to enrol]
