im in quite a little conundrum here - a mess im wholly responsible for. so i want to do arts / law at usyd, and i couldnt care for any other uni. however i got 99.5, so chances are, im not going to get in.

my second preference is international studies - what a mistake that was. i had an epiphany like the day after the final day for applications - i really really want to do arts (advanced) (honours). however, that course is like 5th on my preferences.

so my question: what course of action can i take? as far as i can predict, this is what will happen - rejected for 1st preferences combined law, but accepted for international studies in the main round. i accept that, and then change my preferences so arts (advanced) (hon) is now my first preference for the late round. do i have any chance of getting into it? or even arts, at least?

If Arts is really what you want to do, then you should have filled in at least your first 3 preferences with it! Even if you got an offer for Arts at another Uni, you can do it for one year and then transfer back to Usyd, and get credit for the subjects you did from the previous Uni.
There's nothing you can do yet, so just hope that adv arts isn't as popular this year and there will be seats left for you. If not, better luck next year.
