how much does the rank of your school and how people go in your class affect your uai?
Say if you end up coming 3rd/4th or 5th in a class that is heaps spread apart in marks with 1st getting 90, 2nd 85 3rd ,83..etc..with 12th getting 48 in the HSC. How are you likely to go then with your moderated assessment?

and also if your school is ranked VERY low

The school rank gives a general indication of how well people at that school are expected to go. It is, however, everyone's individual marks that decide how well your school goes. Even a very good school can have a very bad year, and people can buck trends.

As with a class that is spread out, when marks are moderated, the gaps between students are preserved, so the lower you rank in a class that is spread out, the more affected you will be with your moderated assessment mark. Conversely, if you rank relatively low in a class with HSC marks from 75-95, then you'll end up with a much better moderated assessment mark.

Are you in the top half or bottom half? Top you shouldn't be affected as much; bottom, you may have more problems.
