I got my bio mark for my half yearly back today and i got 36/50 which if 72% after the first bio assessment (which i got 73%) i thought that i would put in some more work and do well. It dosen't seem to matter, bio is my worst subject and i can drop it. But i dunno if i want to because i do english ext2 and that is very subjective so i dunno whether i should keep it...i feel like i'm going really bad considering the top mark was 90% I need some advice should i keep it or should i drop it? Oh yeah..and i don't mind bio as a subject i just want to get better marks...

The only way you can improve is not by dropping the subject, but to practice more. You said you want better marks, well it is not going to happen if you just going to drop it. biology is very logicaly if you are able to link everything together. Look over your half yearly and see where you went wrong. Go over your notes again to see how you might be able to answer them differently.

Dammation i find that biology has just lots of theory in it to remember and that fine with me. but the problem with is that im not really a science person and there always some technical things like genes & enzyme you need to know, which i find is hard to understand and on the other hand it just theory like evolution(e.g natural selection) and how organisms maitains a constant internal environment which i find understanble. are you like me?

anyways don't drop bio dammation, you still can do well if you put the effort in it.

yeah, sometimes i feel that bio leaves more holes in information when things are explained...i dunno if that made sense, what i mean is that sometimes they just tell you something and don't explain why it occurs. Like i understand homeostasis and all but some things just get left unsaid, like why do we need to know co-dominance and not in-complete dominance? We just stick straight to the syllabus and then there is so much other stuff...i really want to go well this year so i'm just gonna try and put in more work...

A major part of doing well in Biology is not by just sticking right to the syllabus and memorise everything. You need to do extra readings, such you as you've mentioned, incomplete dominance, so you can further your understanding in biology. There is no harm in doing so. And another important aspect of the HSC biology is that not everything is discrete. Evolution ties in with homeostasis even. When you think about it, organisms that cannot maintain a relatiely stable internal environment are unilkely to survive and pass on their progeny. A lot of the textbooks offer very good and informative information on homeostasis, much more than just the definition for it. Really, the biology syllabus is like a network of dot points, it is up to you to tie them all together. Then, you will find success and the joy in doing it. :)

don't freak out about marks...just get a great rank. Last year in hsc bio our teacher was an ass who set tests from yr 11 syllabus and we'd all get like 50-60% after heaps of study...so meh i still ended up with 86 (you've got a long way to go so bury your head in your books and you will be fine)
