Dual channel is a technology that can double the data throughput between the CPU and RAM controller.

Only if you want to use dual channel, as this requires the two modules to be of the same specifications.

If you run Windows 98 with Microsoft Word and Solitare on your laptop, adding another 256 won't help them go any faster.

Click on the link I posted before.

Things like this requires some research on your part, especially when you haven't said anything about your laptop.

What do you need to know about the slots?

All those RAM modules listed on that page are compatible with your laptop.
