Hey,

I have a question on a worksheet that i am completely stumped on.

"The development of equipment to measure blood gases is relatively recent. What advances in technology stimulated the development in this area of technology?"

Does anyone know the answer? Or want to take a stab at it?

Thanks

It's a strange question.

Maybe you need to list what equipments are used to measure blood gases first, then you have to talk about the principle behind them and what technology has allowed this equipment to do its job. e.g. is it a light detector? sensor? etc.

blood gas analysis measures the partial pressure of different gases in the blood... so i suppose you can mention two things:

1) advances in the technologies which allows partial pressures of different gas to be measured

2) advances in medical knowledges which helped us to understand the physiological consequences of presence, absense, or imbalance of certain gases in our body, which calls for technologies such as GBA to come forth and help our diagnosis
