ok i'm only in yr 11 but i just wanna know for now. to get a UAI over 95, do you have to achieve in the top 5 ranking in ALL of your subjects out of the WHOLE grade or just your class? cos that pretty hard for me right now in advanced english even though my marks are pretty good but there are sooooo many smart people in my class! and also let's say if your prelim mark is really crappy but you did really well in the HSC year, does your prelim mark count for your hsc + UAI mark?
thanks :)

not sure about the top 5 thing or whatever, but prelim does not count towards your HSC

if you school is good, then ranking 5th is not bad, but if are in a shit school (marks wise) you better work hard for HSC assessments (just make sure you come first)

top 5 is not necessary if u went to a smart skool, but better to stay in top 5 then bottom 5!

If the people ahead of you do well and you do well and arent far behind them and there is a large gap between you and the poor marks it should barely affect you.
