coudl some1 plz explain this;
i saw in the smh that a raw mark of 64 got scaled to over 80.
does that mean that if i get 64 out of 100 in the english hsc int that year, i would have gotten over 80?

i.e say if i get 30/45 for the paper 1 and paper 2 i get 30/45 , then my mark would be scaled? (meaning that i only need like 12/15 for the essays?)

if so that would be sweet.

thanks in advance for the help

Those marks referred to the 2001 HSC.

Raw marks are not comparable between cohorts or exams: the raw-band cut-offs are not known, but they are not necessarily the same for each exam. The next exam might be considered 'easier' and the raw-band cut-offs raised.

See the thread "Board of Studies reveals raw marks ([YEAR])" for an idea (and only an idea) of what aligned marks one would have achieved for raw marks.

Just do your best!
