Is it OK to use a prescribed text from another module as your related text?
For instance, I want to use Clueless (1995 movie) as my related text for Belonging and I've seen it in a few suggested lists (HSC Online and others). However after a bit of research, I found that it was one of the prescribed texts in Module A (Emma/Clueless).
Does that mean I cannot use Clueless as a related text ? Will the markers frown upon it ?

Yes they will, it is highly recommended you don't use prescribed text as your related text-regardless of whether they are from another module or even from a previous area of study it is not recommended, there are many other alternate texts that can be much better to use.

Using it will also suggest to markers that you are too lazy to find your own related text.

It is better to find your own. It shows initiative and shows a greater understanding. A few of the kids in my class did 'Mean Girls'for belonging. May be similar??
