I would like to know how the relative difference work and thus how it effect a student.

In any course for example Mathematics.
what will be the MODERATED assessment marks be for Student 2?

Student 1 Ranked 1. School Assessment: 93. HSC Exam 90
Student 2 Ranked 2. School Assessment: 91. HSC Exam 96
etc....say a class of 5...

I know that Student 1 will get the HIGHEST EXAM mark as his/her MODERATED assessment mark, and his/her OWN EXAM MARK, therefore, his/she will end up getting 93 HSC mark.

For Student 2, he/she will get 96 for the EXAM mark but WHAT his/her MODERATED assessment mark going to be? will it be 90?

I think you just confued me there, Cyph...
you said "Assume student 1 gets an asessment mark of 94. Student 2's HSC mark = (96 + 94)/2"

Are you referring to Student 2? If yes, then he/she will get a HSC mark of 95, which will make him/her surpassing the student that ranked first in the school (93).

i hope your theory is correct....if it is, whoever got a mark of 99 in the exam, the WHOLE school benetfits from it, "then every other assessment mark proceeding it must maintain the differences that were sent in by the school."
then it will be 97 in my case for student 2 (ranked 2, with the relative difference of 2), as opposed to the second HIGHEST exam mark as his/her Moderated assessment mark :)

So can i say if the lower ranked students surpasses the higher ranked students in the HSC exam, the relative difference is taken into account? If on the other hand, the top students also gained the top HSC mark, the relative difference WON'T taken into account?

You can't find the Moderated marks, without more information - the other Exam marks for the other 3 people and for that matter, their Assessment raw marks.

Why aren't the moderated assessment marks following the relative difference of 5 marks for student 1 and 2???

That's enough editing... it wasn't a good example, in hindsight. *Shrugs / Sighs*

Hmmm.. i am totally confused by your constant editings :D
But I still can't see a relative difference of 2 marks between student one and two.... Please, I know it's a hard question.

Okay, attempt number 2:

[Case 1]
Student 1. (School Mark: 95)
HSC Exam 97 | Moderated Assessment 99
Student 2. (School Mark: 93)
HSC Exam 99 | Moderated Assessment > 97 (eg. 97.3?)
Student 3. (School Mark: 60)
HSC Exam 72 | Moderated Assessment 72

[Case 2]
Student 1. (School Mark: 95)
HSC Exam 97 | Moderated Assessment 99
Student 2. (School Mark: 93)
HSC Exam 99 | Moderated Assessment < 97 (eg. 96.4?)
Student 3. (School Mark: 60)
HSC Exam 50 | Moderated Assessment 50

Why is the moderated assessment marks are different in person two, even though the relative difference in BOTH cases are the SAME?

The relative difference of 2 marks should be read in context. Look carefully at Student 3 and you'll notice the difference in the 2 scenarios.
