Perhaps so, but do you really think such a radical change in Senate protocol is the answer? :|

this depends on whether you are an ethical absolutist ( things are right or wrong, ie, killing is inheritently wrong) or an ethical relativist (some things are in the grey area and should be considered on a case by case basis)

I think it all depends on the situation. Sometimes there is a clear cut choice, but sometimes you have to justify doing something bad by their consequences

See I've sort of lost track of why some things are considered "right" and others are considered "wrong". Obviously "right" and "wrong" are just concepts which we are taught from a very early age and are just prretexts to control society but I'm starting to question these so called notions.
Also I would like to state that I do not believe in the after life and that I do not believe that life has any particular purpose.

So here are my questions:

Why should you feel compassions for someone else?
Why is murder wrong?

Obviously there are laws ungainst the second one but imagine a situation where the advantages of someone's death far outweighed the disadvantages and there were only positive consequences to the action?

Sorry for not being clear I'm going to bed - I'll post later.

consider this for example.... you are working as someone who switches the rail tracks from one line to another. An old maintenance guy is working on one of the train lines, and all trains have been diverted from the tunnel he is in. However, you notice that in the other tunnel, where the trains will be going there is a group of 5 children playing. They know they shouldn't be there, but they are playing on the tracks. A train approaches and you notice that you are standing at the switchboard and could divert the train.

Now....would you let the train keep going and kill the 5 children, or would you divert the train and kill the maintenance guy.

this is one example where your actions are determined by consequences rather than right or wrong, because either way, somebody is going to die.
