i'm doing my hsc this year and i've noticed that basically every composition from past years have been classical pieces or for film or acoustic missy higgins copies. do i have any chance of getting anywhere in composition if i do rnb and pop?

i mean, it's already obvious that rnb doesn't get very far in australia...so will i be able to scrape up a mark or will i completely flunk? lol

I've seen a lot of innovative HSC compositions. I've also seen a lot of Crap HSC compositions, but that doesn't mean they all are.

The criteria for a high-scoring composition is that the work is innovative and demonstrates good compositional technique. If you think you can do that with a composition in R'n'B style, then that's all well and good. My opinion is that you probably can't (because of the inherant stylistic limitations), but feel free to prove me wrong.
