Say as an answer for an exponential question you get 26.658 people

I would normally round off to 26 people because people need to be whole and you cant round it off to 27 people.
It some textbooks they do round it off that way

Im not sure what to do, should i just ignore the whole idea of people being whole and just round off normally or whattt

Depends on the context. If you are looking for the minimum number of people to achieve a certain value, then the answer would be 27 because taking 26 would not be enough to reach that value.
