if you have a high rank in business studies you will not get scalled down...

only average marks get scalled down

and yeah i would say year 12 business is alot harder then

prelim/ year 9/10 commerce by a long way!!!

I wouldn't say that Yr 12 Business Studies is any more difficult than Yr 11 - there's just a greater amount to learn. Given that you have more time in Yr 12, this shouldn't really make too much of a difference though. From memory, there's a topic in Yr 11 that deals with Employment Relations, Marketing, Financial Management etc...Yr 12 virtually extends upon that and goes into a bit more depth.

Realistically, if your good at a subject, you'll do well in it. Dont drop a subject coz it scaled badly. Its better to get, say 98, then scaled to 96, than a subject ur crap at, getting 86, scaled to like 87. (obviously rather extreme examples). I did Business studies, IPT, drama, engl(adv) (all subjects which as scaled down at least a little) and I still ended up with UAI over 97. You just gotta be good at them, or enjoy them and it will flow.

If you found the prelim course easy, you should be right for year 12. Like ReNcH said - there's just a lot more content to learn. The only completely new topic is global business, which is one of the harder topics in the course

Just to add to what [trent] said, Global Business is really the only topic with which you would be unfamiliar coming into Year 12. However, given that it's generally the last topic taught, you should have a good feel of the course by then and that'll make it slightly easier to learn. I've found that doing Economics also helps with Global Business in certain areas, though there's no great advantage that may be gained from having done Eco previously.

how would you know if your doing your hsc in 2006? - you'd have only started yr 12 recently like Loz_metalhead

I guess you can get a broad idea of the course just by flicking through the HSC textbook...[trent]'s correct in what he said, so that's what matters most :)

I actually like global :p .. only because its easy to memorise ..., Marketing is a large topic but fun, ER isnt too bad, Management and Change has surprisingly large amount of content (however alot you would have already covered in Prelim), and Financial Planning is in my opinion the worst .. not because of its difficulty (relatively ok) but it really isnt a topic that stimulates me whatsoever :s .. alot of analysis of statements and memorising sources of funds, efficient use of this etc ..
