wow its a shame some of the languages.. no one has taken it in 3 years
thats pretty bad :(
and the scaling does depend on the group of people doing the subject.. if everyone does really well it gets scaled higher.. if everyone does bad it scales lower

what the... no.

the so "called" scale goes up when the student in that group performs well in all of their other subjects and does bad in the subject at hand. it goes down the other way around.

No - all of the students in the course being scaled need to have done well (comparatively) in all of their courses (including this particular course) in order to be scaled up.

no you misunderstood me Laz... yea they need to do well to raise the average scale mark for that course.

but normally the phrase "scaled up", used by many people who does not understand anything about how the marks are awarded, refers to the difference between the HSC aligned mark and UAC's scaled mark for that course. :)

so my way works in that situation.... since it will create a huge difference. ;)

I think it's better to just use the correct terminology and enlighten people as to how the system really works. :)

totally agree, someone here is gotta make a terminology page. people should just get refered to that page when they ask stupid questions like is this scaled up or down... answering the same question over and over again is just not fun.

and those people in the masses who reason that choosing a course over the other because of scaling clearly do not understand anything. ;)
