is your internal assessment mark sent to the BOS as a scaled mark?

would this mean that highschools are given the guidelines by which the bos will scale each subject in a particular year? or do the school just send our raw marks?

assuming that the school sends scaled marks to the BoS, would our uai mark be SCALED internal mark + hsc scaled mark? if not, what it is?

and if the school sends raw marks, im thinking the bos scales both our school mark, then our hsc mark, and then average them. or do they just add a scaled HSC mark + raw internal mark and average that?

thanks.

so how is the hsc test mark determined? it would "scale" according to several factors right?

that being said, my english teacher was telling us this year, someone may get a 100% mark sent to the bos, after scaling. i asked if the school scaled marks, then sent them to bos. she said yes.

Your raw HSC mark is the mark used for scaling, not the marks reported to you. The raw examination mark is determined by markers who mark your exam. That mark is used for scaling and makes up half of your raw HSC mark.
When they are reported to you, they are "aligned" not scaled. Aligning involves a standards setting procedure conducted by judges to determine the band cut offs and performance descriptors for each student.
Scaling depends solely on the performance and statistics of the candidiature of each course, nothing else. If the performance of the candidature is high then chances are their marks would be "scaled up". If the performance of the candidature is low then chances are their marks would be "scaled down".

Schools can have their own system of "scaling". Not all schools would have this kind of "scaling" imitation. Nonetheless, once marks are submitted to the Board of Studies they are still called raw assessment marks.

Thanks for bringing that up. Now I understand why so many people believe that higher schools scale their marks higher. Schools adopt their own little system of scaling for themselves. However, when submitted to the Board of Studies they are still moderated regardless.
The distribution of marks should be the same and ranking does not change so, in my opinion school scaling is pointless because it will be already moderated by the Board of Studies once submitted anyway.
